It is particularly useful for plugs with short thread depth that are commonly found in chainsaws, string trimmers, and other small equipment engines. Please note that this tool is not compatible with 18mm thread plugs, as well as long reach or short reach spark plugs.
2. This tool features a dual marked stainless-steel feeler gauge with a measurement range from 0.001inch to 0.04inch (0.03mm to 1mm). The gauge is constructed from high quality flexible 65 manganese steel, hardened and polished for durability and accuracy. It is the preferred choice for both personal and professional use in machinery stores or automobile garages.
3. Keep in mind that due to the material of the spark plug, some plug electrodes may bounce back during the gapping process, which is considered normal for certain types of plugs. If your desired gap is 0.046in, it is recommended to use a 0.044in feeler gauge size. It is generally advisable to start with a smaller gap size and then adjust accordingly. This spark plug gap tool is versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications.
4. Using this tool is simple and straightforward. Place your spark plug onto the spark plug gapper, choose your desired feeler gauge, and slowly screw the knob until the side electrode compresses to the desired gap thickness.
